Located on James Island, South Carolina, Au Pair for Paws serves all of Charleston County. We come to you! We are dedicated to cultivating the best relationship between owners and their dogs. We use a balanced training approach and truly believe that every dog is different and that not all dogs can be trained in the same way.
At Au Pair for Paws, we use the best methods possible to have a successful outcome for you and your dog. Whether it be aggression, jumping, nipping, or leash reactivity, we are here to help. We offer behavioral, obedience training, and puppy training.
We believe that with structure, obedience, and the owner's understanding of their dog's behavior, there will be greater success in training, thereby creating a stronger bond between the owner and their dog. We want you to be confident with your dog and be able to do the things you want with them, stress-free!
We are insured and bonded, certified in Pet CPR and First Aid, and are highly recommended!

We train all dogs, from extra-small to extra-large. We also work on specific issues you may have with your dog.

“Meagan has been such a guiding light for me and my 1 year old springer spaniel, Pippa! She is a wealth of knowledge and has helped me so much in the daunting task of raising and training a high energy puppy to be confident, well-mannered, and well-adjusted. Pippa started off with private 1:1 lessons at around 6 months old, but last month I decided to invest in a 3 week board & train to give her some more consistency in training. I am not one to leave my dogs with just anyone - seriously, I'm a helicopter mom - but after working with Meagan throughout the year I felt confident Pippa was in great hands. She updated me with lots of pictures and videos (even with a broken phone, she whipped out her old iPad to video her progress so that I was kept updated, lol). “Training with Au Pair for Paws was the best decision I made for my puppy, Milo. We completed the private lesson program with Meagan two years ago and have been participating in her Saturday group classes ever since. Meagan goes above and beyond to help her clients. She talked with me on the phone to answer my questions in between sessions, and she also came to an agility practice to help assess and work on Milo’s behavior when we were new to the sport.
If you’re looking for a board-and-train program or to board your dog while on vacation, Au Pair for Paws is the way to go. All the dogs stay inside Meagan’s home, are treated just as well as her own dogs, go on daily walks, and have time to decompress in her backyard.
Meagan is a very knowledgeable and effective dog trainer. She is direct yet kind, and will help you set realistic expectations and goals for your pup. Even after two years, Milo and I are still learning and growing with her guidance. I can’t recommend her enough!”

Au Pair For Paws: Charleston Dog Training came very highly recommended from some friends. The hound needed a lot more motivation to train.
